Thoughts and Dreams of Aaron Schmidt

This is the online journal of Aaron Schmidt where he records his thoughts (when they seem relevant) and his dreams (when he can remember them).

10 March 2004 Les Claypool

Are we real?
The pole hammers, no words describe
transformed molten,
transfixed lost,
here noises meet the human need.

The sea of the human face, red, low purple
played like if a drum.
How are we?
Who are we?
do the councils bend?
people answer beyond that which we are.

- ramblings from a Primus concert by Leslie Horacek then translated into French and back again

02 March 2004 Tunisia

Aurélie and I had a wonderful weekend in Tunisia to celebrate our one-year anniversary.

Many thanks to Fatan and Sonia and Radwin for their excellent hospitality. And I thought Canadians were friendly... they don't have anything on the Tunisians.

I got the chance to experience the real Turkish Baths. (The Turks left some of their culture when they invaded Tunisia in 1574.) Also included was a crazy "massage" that involved my body being twisted in multiple directions and my skin being scrubbed until it bled ... but in the end, I felt great.

09 February 2004 Rug Rat

My dog was put to sleep yesterday by my parents.

He developed an infection of the liver on Wednesday and quickly deteriorated to the point of no return.

So my parents went in Saturday morning, spent a little time with Tori before the Vet came in and put the sleepy juice in his veins. My parents said he looked very content at the end and there was no pain.

I'm glad both my parents were to see him off. He was a good dog.
