Thoughts and Dreams of Aaron Schmidt

This is the online journal of Aaron Schmidt where he records his thoughts (when they seem relevant) and his dreams (when he can remember them).

31 July 2004 Break dance karma

After dinner, Aurélie, Siba and I decided to walk down to the Seine to spend a little time in the open air. As we were passing through Notre Dame, we were lucky enough to catch the beginning of a break dance spectacle.

And this was no ordinary break dancing. This was a full out dancing production with the craziest moves I've ever seen (and I've seen some impressive dancing on the streets of Paris).

Besides the dancing, they also demonstrated some cool "tricks". One guy did this crazy flip jump over 7 people lined up and bending over at the waist. 7 people! At another point, there was a race between two of them which they then played in reverse (with the music in reverse) and then again in slow motion.

During the show, one of the guys went through the crowd collecting donations. With over 200 people watching and most throwing in a couple Euros, I'm sure they did pretty good. I love these kind of shows on the streets of Paris with people who are passionate about what they do, so I figured what the hell and threw in €10.

At the end of the show, they did this "we are champions" kind of thing with the lead guy pretending to count the change in his giant bag of money. With all the other dancers bowing down around him, he then pulled out the €10 bill, got down on one knee and held the bill suspended above his head.

Chances are excellent that the bill was mine ... and I felt a rush of good karma. :)

People should always be encouraged for doing what they love.

29 July 2004 They be saved

There are things in life necessary for the soul: expression, creation, passion, love, understanding, and more...

Some lesser people find these things frightening or imposing either in themselves or when coming from other people. But if anyone should let that fear dominate them into trying to suppress these things in others, no heaven can save them from their mistake.

Nor should they be saved.

20 July 2004 Burning out

Oh and what fun! ... but my mind feels overloaded, like one of those robotic arms in the car factory.

I need a direct connection with the Internet. My brain online. I would be able to save huge amounts of time!!

Aurélie doesn't like the idea ... maybe I can design something for the kids ...
